Термінологічне різномаїття у визначенні поняття «міжкультурна компетентність»

Abstract

Стаття присвячена аналізу термінологічного різноманіття у визначенні поняття «міжкультурна компетентність», що набуває особливої актуальності у XXI столітті в умовах глобалізації та зростання ролі міжнародної співпраці. Автор вивчає семантичні витоки та словотвірні особливості основних термінів, що використовуються в науковому дискурсі для позначення цього феномена, зокрема «міжкультурна» (intercultural), «кроскультурна» (cross-cultural), «мультикультурна» (multicultural), «полікультурна» (polycultural), «транскультурна» (transcultural) компетентність. На основі порівняльного аналізу виявлено спільні та відмінні ознаки цих понять, визначено їхнє функціональне навантаження та галузі застосування. Особлива увага приділяється значенню міжкультурної компетентності у військовій сфері, зокрема офіцерів Збройних Сил України в умовах інтеграції до стандартів НАТО. Обґрунтовується, що успішна міжкультурна взаємодія у багатонаціональних військових колективах потребує високого рівня комунікативної готовності, толерантності та адаптивності. Також у статті розглянуто ризики есенціалістського підходу до культури, що зводить її до статичних і незмінних характеристик, і показано, як розвиток міжкультурної компетентності допомагає їх уникнути. Аналіз термінологічного розмаїття є важливим внеском у теоретичне осмислення поняттєво-категоріального апарату, необхідного для удосконалення освітніх програм і підвищення успішності підготовки фахівців у контексті міжкультурної взаємодії. Додатково підкреслюється значення термінологічної точності для уникнення змішування суміжних понять та забезпечення єдності наукового дискурсу. Робота може стати основою для подальших досліджень із розроблення методичних рекомендацій та адаптації зарубіжного досвіду підготовки військових кадрів до українського освітнього простору.The article is devoted to the analysis of terminological diversity in defining the concept of «intercultural competence», which has gained particular relevance in the 21st century under conditions of globalization and the growing role of international cooperation. The author examines the semantic origins and word-formation features of the main terms used in academic discourse to denote this phenomenon, including «intercultural», «cross-cultural», «multicultural», «polycultural», and «transcultural» competence. Based on a comparative analysis, the study identifies the common and distinctive features of these concepts, determines their functional scope, and outlines the fields of application. Special attention is paid to the significance of intercultural competence in the military sphere, particularly for officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the context of NATO standards integration. It is argued that successful intercultural interaction in multinational military teams requires a high level of communicative readiness, tolerance, and adaptability. The article also addresses the risks of an essentialist approach to culture, which reduces it to static and unchanging characteristics, and demonstrates how the development of intercultural competence helps to avoid them. The analysis of terminological diversity makes a significant contribution to the theoretical understanding of the conceptual and categorical framework necessary for improving educational programs and enhancing the effectiveness of specialist training in the context of intercultural interaction. Additionally, the importance of terminological precision is empha-sized to avoid conflating related concepts and to ensure the unity of academic discourse. This work can serve as a foundation for further research aimed at developing methodological recommendations and adapting foreign experience in military training to the Ukrainian educational context.
