Being an academic: рефлексії зарубіжного дискурсу до контекстів вітчизняних дискусій про вищу школу

Abstract

У статті розглядаються деякі питання академічної діяльності, притаманних зарубіжним університетам з певними проєкціями на вітчизняні заклади вищої освіти. Для означення цієї діяльності обрано парасольковий термін англійською мовою «вeing an academic» («academic») й подано його тлумачення, оскільки механічний переклад українською мовою не повністю охоплює його семантику. У центрі зарубіжного дискурсу, як і у даній статті, знаходяться такі компоненти: поняттєво-термінологічний тезаурус, академічна культура, академічна кар’єра, академічна ідентичність, віковий та гендерний чинники, пост-академічний статус тощо. Увага акцентується на якості атмосфери взаємодії áкторів різних професійно-посадових статусів, вікових та гендерних характеристик у ракурсі формування іміджу й суспільної значущості університетів та іншого типу закладів вищої освіти; підкреслюється, що вивчення досвіду зарубіжних університетів в окресі обраної теми й критичне впровадження у вітчизняні практики сприятиме поліпшенню структурування науково-дослідницького та навчального процесів українських закладів вищої освіти. Подається стан дослідження запропонованої теми.The article examines some issues of academic ac-tivity inherent in foreign universities with certain pro-jections on domestic higher education institutions. To define this activity, the umbrella term in English «being an academic» («academic») was chosen and its in-terpretation is given, since its mechanical translation into Ukrainian does not fully cover its semantics. At the center of foreign discourse, as in this article, are the following components: conceptual and termino-logical thesaurus, academic culture, academic career, academic integrity, academic identity, age and gender factors, post-academic status, etc. Attention is focused on the quality of the atmosphere of interaction between actors of different professional and positional statuses, age and gender characteristics in the perspective of forming the authority and social significance of universities and other types of higher education institutions; it is emphasized that studying the experience of foreign universities in the area of the chosen topic and critical implementation into domes-tic practices will contribute to improving the structuring of the scientific research and educational process of Ukrainian higher education institutions. The state of research on the proposed topic is pre-sented.
